Back Up!

08/08/07

Major Cheeseman is back up! It was down for a couple days because I was switching hosting. I'll be restructoring the site in the next couple days, so expect a couple bugs.

King of Swords.com

07/23/07

--Cool Site--
I was surfing the internet the other day, and I was looking for Lord of the Rings sword replicas to show to my friend. They have replica swords from anything from Kill Bill (awesome), ninja swords, to generic fantasy swords. I'm not a sword enthusiast, and I don't really like sharp objects, but hey, it was a cool site nonetheless.

Change of Focus/Redesign/Server Switch

07/22/07

Majorcheeseman.net is going to undergo some major changes in the next week or so, including a server change, site redesign, and change of focus. The focus in Major Cheeseman 2.0 will be my personal blog instead of videogame news. Don't worry, I'll some cool stuff on here soon, just give me a week.

Gaming Competition, Sponsored by Chimp Media

Don't Buy an HDTV Without Reading This First

06/05/07

I found this awesome article about HDTV's and what to look for if you plan to buy one.
Link
I also found this about the size your HDTV should be:
"How big a screen?

Viewing distance should be at least 1.5 times screen size; any closer and the image looks bad. So don't splurge on that 84-inch set unless you can sit 10 1/2 feet away."

And also, when you get your new HDTV, don't clean it with Windex

A Huge List of Free-to-Play Games

06/03/07

Here's a list of free games and links to download them. Just thumb through them, some like Maplestory and Anerica's Army are uber-fun.

Albatross 18 (Also known as Pangya)

Genre: Online Golf Game (Think Mario Golf)
Price: Free, but to get certain items, you must buy "cookies".
Gameplay: Amazingly similar to Mario Golf, except a little more challenging to pull off special shots. Challenging courses, a friend system, and tournament play offer hours of endless entertainment. The game even has a tutorial course to ease you into it's gameplay. Even if you suck at the game, it still proves fun to play and get better.

Cave Story
Genre: Adventure/Shooter
Price: Free
Gameplay: Cave Story is really one of those games that can be considered a masterpiece of game design. There are so many wonderful and classic gaming elements, that I cannot even begin to describe just one quality well enough to say “It is for this one reason alone that Cave Story is a great game.” There is just so much effort, originality and ingenuity behind this game and it really shows more and more as you play through it.

It has alot of similar elements from Zelda and Metroid. It seems old-fashioned, but it's gameplay shines through and through. Try it out!

Lineage 2 Free Server
Genre: MMORPG
Price: Free
Gameplay: Lineage 2 is a hugely improved sequel to the moderately successful MMORPG Lineage. The Lineage series was originally developed and released in the Korean market and later released worldwide. Hugely successful in Korea, Lineage II has also made a definite impact on the rest of the world with servers in Asia, Europe, and several in North America.
A large part of Lineage 2's success can be attributed to a very realistic engine with arguably the best graphics of any MMORPGs released to date. Character and map detailing rivals some offline games released at the same time which is quite an accomplishment considering the resources required to maintain a persistent world. This free server uses a legal build of the actual server, and runs just as good.

* From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you've explored a bit, perhaps you'll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business.

* You'll also be surrounded by the Creations of your fellow residents. Because residents retain the rights to their digital creations, they can buy, sell and trade with other residents.

On the specious Silk Road, the merchants constantly moves for trading and burglars who intend to strip them of goods. In addition, there are hunters who specialize in removing such burglars. On the Silk Road which seems to be static, the hostility and secret strife in which various groups continuously engage for the benefit of their own groups inform the Silk Road world with new life.

Besides, there is no fixed job in the SilkRoad world. All players can freely promote the growth of their own characters by their wills, and change his/her own group to other groups like merchant, burglar and hunter which he/she affiliated with as well as alter his/her character."

Tremulous
Genre: Online RTS/FPS
Price: Free (Open-source)
Gameplay: Tremulous is a free, open source game that blends a team based FPS with elements of an RTS. Players can choose from 2 unique races, aliens and humans. Players on both teams are able to build working structures in-game like an RTS. These structures provide many functions, the most important being spawning. The designated builders must ensure there are spawn structures or other players will not be able to rejoin the game after death. Other structures provide automated base defense (to some degree), healing functions and much more...

Player advancement is different depending on which team you are on. As a human, players are rewarded with credits for each alien kill. These credits may be used to purchase new weapons and upgrades from the "Armoury". The alien team advances quite differently. Upon killing a human foe, the alien is able to evolve into a new class. The more kills gained the more powerful the classes available.

The overall objective behind Tremulous is to eliminate the opposing team. This is achieved by not only killing the opposing players but also removing their ability to respawn by destroying their spawn structures.

Back to Posting....

06/03/07

I'll try to post something cool everyday for the whole month of June. Just a heads-up ^.^

Get Paid to Blog About Games!

05/29/07

Here's the deal,  register here, write quality gaming or tech related articles, submit them to Digg, and get paid!

This is how payment works:
You post the content on my site, and submit it to Digg. For every Digg you get on your article, I will give you $0.02. Think about it, 100 diggs will net you $2, and 1000 diggs will net you $20. Reviews will have a different and yet to be decided payment system (since game reviews don't usually fare well on digg). Monetary payments would be sent via Paypal or check. I'm still hammering out the details, but if your interested, don't hesitate to shoot me an email (Cheeseman1208@gmail.com).

It benefits everyone:
I get tons of traffic to my site, which drives ad revenue to me. I then use that money to pay you guys, who are getting paid to write cool stuff about games! So, more traffic (AKA. diggs (since one digg would mean one unique user and several page views of traffic)) means more ad revenue for me, and more cash (remember, more diggs = more cash) for you guys. I thought it was a cool system, so I'm going to try it.

Petition to Online CD Key

05/03/07

If you have been ripped off by Online CD Key, just leave a comment here with your name and email address.

If you don't know, Online CD Key was a legitimate business that has delivered MMORPG's and time cards at a normal retail price. They have hundreds of customers, who were ripped off all of a sudden when Online CD Key mysteriously stopped delivering products. Customer support won't answer emails or phone calls, and even the owner's phone is "disconnected" (a WHOIS query revealed the owner). I, along with tons of other people, payed Online CD Key money, and have not recieved our products.

[UPDATE]: Follow this link to submit a complaint about Online CD Key to the Better Business Bureugh: https://dayton.ebindr.com/complaint/new/3030
